Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group understands precisely where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
