Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his maiden title after the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

Victory also means he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to create a final set.

He defended four early break points in a tight third set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
